Sticky Chicken (Honey Soy Glaze)
Ingredients
- 1.5β2 lbs chicken thighs (boneless or bone-in)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Salt & pepper, to taste
Sticky Sauce
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp ginger, grated (or 1/2 tsp ground ginger)
- 1 tbsp sesame oil (optional)
- 1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (slurry for thickening)
Instructions
1. Season & sear the chicken
- Season chicken with salt & pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Sear chicken 3β4 minutes per side until golden.
2. Make the sticky sauce
- In a bowl, whisk together:
- soy sauce
- honey
- brown sugar
- vinegar
- garlic
- ginger
- sesame oil
- Pour sauce into the pan with the chicken.
3. Simmer
- Reduce heat to medium-low.
- Cover and simmer 15β20 minutes (until chicken is cooked through).
4. Thicken the sauce
- Remove chicken and set aside.
- Add cornstarch slurry to the sauce.
- Stir until thick and glossy (about 1β2 minutes).
5. Glaze
- Return chicken to the pan.
- Coat well with the sticky sauce.
