Salisbury Steak with Mushroom Gravy
Ingredients
For the patties

1 lb ground beef

1/3 cup breadcrumbs

1 egg

1 small onion, finely minced

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 tbsp milk
-
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp salt
-
1/2 tsp black pepper
For the mushroom gravy

2 tbsp butter
-
1 tbsp oil
-
8 oz mushrooms, sliced

2 tbsp flour
-
2 cups beef broth
-
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions

Make the patties
In a bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, onion, garlic, milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
Form into oval-shaped patties. -
Brown the patties
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Brown patties on both sides (about 3–4 minutes per side).
Remove and set aside. -
Cook mushrooms
In the same skillet, melt butter.
Add mushrooms and cook until softened and lightly browned. -
Make the gravy
Sprinkle flour over mushrooms and stir for 1 minute.
Slowly whisk in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce.
Simmer until thickened. -
Finish cooking
Return patties to the skillet.
Spoon gravy over them, cover, and simmer 10–15 minutes until fully cooked and tender.
